Knead vs CottageCMS, honestly

Knead does that too, and then keeps going: it knows your recipes and what each one actually costs, it knows how many hours are left in your week before you say yes to another cake, and it does your books, right down to your Schedule C. CottageCMS is cottage food business software for websites, orders, and markets, and the website part is deep: themes, custom pages, a blog, and a custom domain. If you want to publish, they've built for it.
Local SEO and the state-law library
Their cottage food law content covers all 50 states and it is genuinely useful, whether or not you ever sign up. Their local SEO work is strong. We don't have an equivalent.
Square, and the market crowd
Payments run through Square. If you already sell at a farmers market on a Square reader, that's a real reason to prefer them: one processor, one payout, one report.
The community
CottageCMS is bootstrapped and founder-led, and it sponsors a cottage food Facebook group with around 125,000 members. Drew Meyer is in there answering questions. So are we; ours is a two-person team too, and one of us is a baker.
The retention layer
Loyalty and coupons, newsletters, SMS, and customer accounts. Knead has none of those today beyond order and confirmation email. Their free plan also has no order cap; ours is 5 a month.
